Customs I&P lodges another FIR as Rs 68.8m petroleum jelly stolen from godown sealed by ASO

LAHORE: Another Rs68.8 million petroleum jelly is reported to have been stolen from a godown sealed by the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance Lahore, an FIR lodged by Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) early this month disclosed Monday.

As per details, the godown was sealed by the Customs ASO during the month of October this year as the godown was dumped with a huge quantity of non-customs paid 325 drums of Iranian made petroleum jelly worth Rs60.80 million.

The godown was raided successfully at the Sadiq Colony, Misri Shah, Lahore during the month of October this year and sealed with the illegally imported 56875 kg petroleum jelly.

The Customs ASO did not shift the seized petroleum jelly as the owner of the godown requested a margin of sometime to produce legal documents because he failed to produce the relevant documents on the spot.

However, the owner instead of producing the documents illegally removed the whole of the seized petroleum jelly from the godown which the Customs authorities came to know during a routine checkup.

The Customs Investigation and Prosecution (P&I) has registered an FIR no 33/2020 and initiated further investigations.

Earlier, a Rs10 million non-customs paid Iranian originated 2151 Bitumen Rolls were also stolen from the Customs ASO-sealed godown at the Mominpura Road, Slamat Pura, Daroghe Wala, an FIR lodged FIR registered on 14/11/2020 by Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance Investigation and Prosecution Cell, indicated.

The customs authorities registering a case against the accused had initiated further investigations into the case.
