DC Inamullah Wazir’s Customs JIAP seizes goods worth Rs11m during last four days

KARACHI: After directions of Deputy Collector Inamullah Wazir,  customs staff deputed at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) has continued crackdown on illegal movement of contrabands and commercial goods and seized goods worth Rs11 million in last four days.

In the last four days the following cases have been instituted:

  • A passenger going to Africa via Dubai through Emirates airline has been intercepted after he had crossed ASF and ANF checks at departure lounge, and a recovery of 308 grams of pure gold (24 carat) has been affected which he had concealed in a unique manner as buckle of his belt with metallic coating on it. On further thorough search 37000 UAE dirhams were also recovered from his luggage which he had not declared. FIR has be lodged and the passenger has been arrested.

2) A seizure of 250 gram heroin has been affected at General Post Office, Karachi by Drugs Enforcement Cell of Customs Karachi Airport. The drugs were concealed in a book cover. The parcel was booked from Punjab, Pakistan to Ontario, Canada. FIR has been registered and investigations are in progress. Value of the seized heroin is estimated to be Rs2.5 million in international market.

3) In various other cases, in the last four days, goods including watches, cell phones, liquor and other miscellaneous items worth Rs 4 million have been seized by the Customs staff at Karachi Airport.
