KARACHI: Noted businessman Mirza Ikhtiar Baig has said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi, under the leadership of Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, Director-General Najaf Mirza, IW2 Director Hafeez Siddiqui and Deputy Director Salahuddin Mughal, is playing a vital role in eliminating corruption from society and extending complete support to the business community.

In a letter, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig said that when the scam of the Fazaia Housing Society made headlines in the national media, he was worried about his money which he had deposited in a bank account for the allotment of a plot in the Fazaia Housing Society. He said he immediately decided to approach the NAB Karachi office to file a complaint. “The NAB team headed by Hafeez Siddiqui and Deputy Director Salahuddin Mughal assured me that the NAB will use all possible resources for the recovery of my looted money,” he added.

He said that within two weeks the NAB team approached him and asked him to receive his cheaque. “They even did not deduct the service charges from the amount. The way the NAB team handled the Fazaia Housing Society case is really remarkable,” he said. “Some people are creating baseless and negative propaganda against the NAB to save their personal interests but my experience is different as the NAB is extending complete support to the business community and it forwarded all their tax-related cases to the Federal Board of Revenue,” he observed. He praised the NAB team which had worked day and night for recovery of looted money from the management of the Fazaia Housing Society.

Earlier, TV star Khalid Anum and his wife Tehmina Anum lauded the efforts of Karachi NAB Director-General Najaf Quli Mirza, IW2 NAB Karachi Director Hafeez Siddiqui and Deputy Director Salahuddin Mughal for recovery of looted money from the management of the Fazaia Housing Society.

Khalid Anum and his wife said that they had lost hope of their money in the scam. But when they approached the NAB and the way its team headed by Deputy Director Salahuddin Mughal handled the case and handed over a cheque for their looted money to them within a week was really outstanding. They said that there was no doubt that the NAB was working tirelessly to eliminate corruption in the country.
