Customs E&C seizes huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs2965.29m

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Compliance and Enforcement (E&C) seized huge quantity of smuggled/ non-duty paid goods worth Rs2965.29 million during  financial year July, 2020 to February, 2021.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization of Model Customs Collectorate (Enforcement & Compliance), Lahore on the directions of Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Collector of Customs (E&C), headed by Muteen Alam, Additional Collector Ali Taugir, Assistant Collector and team consisting of Faiz-ur-Rahman, Superintendent, Abdul Rehman Butt, Hassan Mehmood, Abdul Ghaffar and M. Asghar Purewal, Inspectors seized a huge quantity of smuggled/ non-duty paid goods and vehicles during July, 2020 to February, 2021 worth Rs.2965.29 million.

Goods include cloth, tyres, cigarettes, petroleum jelly, diesel oil, crockery, dry fruits, medicines, cosmetics, jewelry, charas etc. Vehicles include Toyota Lexus Jeeps, Toyota Land Cruiser (V8), Toyota Hilux Surf, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota Mark X, Toyota Vitz cars. Cases of valuing Rs.778.75 Million were made during the corresponding period of last year (2019-20). An increase of 280.78% excess is as compared with the corresponding period of last year.
