KARACHI: The customs court approved interim charge sheet against Nayyar Rafi, Saad Ahmed Qureshi, Rafi Ahmed Qureshi, Saeed Ahmed Qureshi, directors of M/s Overseas Transit Agency Ltd, Akhtar Hussain and others, who are nominated in firs information report (FIR) for illegal clearance of two vehicles on same documents beyond legal entitlement of one vehicle in violation of IPO 2020 read with SRO 52(I)/ 2019.
On 12 March 2021, investigation officer appeared before the court and submitted progress report and informed the court that an information to the Collectorate, post release audit of released vehicles, it has been observed that one overseas Pakistani accused Akhtar Hussain had imported two vehicles under personal baggage scheme and their authorized clearing agents had filed goods declaration and the vehicle was released accordingly.

He further informed the court that if was found that he had shared PRCs and verification of the PRCs received from Banks thereof with another goods declaration on the same documents, and after the investigation, it was established that accused persons had committed a mis-declaration and submitted false document in order to avoid national import policy order 2016 thus violated section 16, 17, 32, 79 & 192 of the customs act, 1969 read with imported policy order 2020.
He further stated that the first information report was lodged accordingly for in depth investigation of the crime in order to bring the culprits to book accordingly.
After the hearing, the court approved the progress report and adjourned the hearing for further proceedings.
