Multan Customs seizes huge quantity of smuggled bitumen

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized a huge quantity of smuggled bitumen in their action.

According to details, Customs Enforcement & Compliance (E& C) Multan received credible information from their source that huge quantity of smuggled bitumen will be transported from Jurisdiction. Assistant Collector Omer Sajjad was directed by Collector Muneeza Majeed to take strict action against said bowsers and thwart their bid of smuggling.

Assistant Collector formed special team including Superintendent Habib-ur-Rehman, Inspector Maqsood Ahmad and others to take action against smuggled bitumen on the basis of received information.

Anti-Smuggling Organization team started patrolling of the various adopted routes to enhance monitoring of the said region and started examination of loaded goods to detect smuggle bitumen. During the patrolling of Anti-Smuggling Organization, Customs staff intercepted the suspected drums loaded with bitumen. Customs teams recovered huge quantity of bitumen filled in the iron drums.

Customs teams recovered almost 60 metric tons of bitumen from vehicle during their action. Anti-smuggling Organization asked driver of the bowsers to produce legal import documents of the said goods to justify its legal possession but driver failed to produce anything. Customs Anti-smuggling Organization seized the foreign Origin bitumen after completing necessary requirements and also seized both bowsers along with huge quantity of bitumen.
