FTO summons PRAL CEO in tax case on August 2

ISLAMABAD: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has summoned CEO, Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL), Ashfaq Ahmed, member IR-operations, FBR, secretary Revenue Division and Chief-CIR, RTO, Lahore on August 2, 2021 in an investigation where an advocate has compulsorily been registered as a “retailer”, through issuance of illegal sales tax registration number on fraud documents by misusing CNIC by PRAL/FBR tax employees.

It is reliably learnt that tax lawyer Waheed Shahzad Butt has moved a complaint before the FTO that registration process at FBR/PRAL is a severe threat to the safety and security of citizens/taxpayers and it is equivalent to cheating with the national exchequer and taxation system of the country.

FTO has ordered to conduct an investigation and the case has been fixed for August 2, 2021 for hearing by FTO regional office in Lahore.

The complainant stated that he is a taxpayer, practicing senior lawyer and a whistle-blower in dozens cases of public interest.
