Multan Customs seizes tyres, scrap, welding rods worth Rs9.4m

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) has seized tyres, scrap, welding rods and other miscellaneous goods of worth Rs9.4 million.

According to details, Multan Customs received secret information that large quantity of smuggled goods worth around.1 million will be transported from Multan.

Accordingly, anti-smuggling squads were alerted who intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers NAA-482/Quetta and TAC -221/Lasbella loaded with foreign origin smuggled goods.

Customs anti-smuggling staff took possession of the said trucks and brought it to Multan Customs Dry Port. On thorough examination in the presence of Customs staff, trucks were found to be loaded with the smuggled including tyres scrap, welding rods, iron steel etc. and also found that non duty paid goods were dumped in the garb of remeltable Iron & scrap inside of the trucks. The trucks and the goads were seized under Customs act 1969. The value of seized goods were almost Rs.9.4 million. Further investigation was still under way.
