PTBA welcomes FBR new Chairman Dr. Mohammad Ashfaq

LAHORE: Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) Senior Vice President Qari Habibur Rehman Zubari has welcomed the newly appointed Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmad and hoped that his appointment will prove a right decision in the larger national interests.

The PTBA SVP said that the new chairman, like his predecessors is also a competent officer of the FBR.

He said that the FBR will definitely take maximum advantage of his abilities. He, however, said that the new chairman is expected to work to enhance the tax net instead of squeezing the existing taxpayers.

Zubari said that Pakistan has a huge untapped tax potential but it has never been exploited to the fullest.

He was of the view that Point of Sale (PoS) also needs to be implemented in letter and spirit.

He suggested that in order to implement the system the inspectors of the department can be very useful.

“There should be camras at every  chainstores in the beginning at least. Otherwise, the true results of the system would be distant dream,” he added.

While appreciating the services of the outgoing chairman, he said that Asim Ahmad is a seasoned office of the and has done tremendous job for enhancing tax net and resolving issues of taxpayers.

He said that his policy of open door has been praised by all and sundry.

He said that Asim had a wonderful sense f understanding and helped out everyone either one is taxpayer or official of the Board.  The PTBA SVP wished Asim best of luck.
