Customs Preventive seizes smuggled goods worth Rs1089.21m during different operations

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized huge quantity of smuggled goods and non-custom-paid vehicles worth Rs1089.21 million in first two months of the current fiscal year 2021-22.

Sources said that Collector Customs Preventive Basit Maqsood Abbasi directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling.  Anti-Smuggling Organization squad headed by Additional Collector Muteen Alam, Deputy Collector Faizan Badar, Assistant Collector Ms. Sidra Naz, and team comprising Superintendent Faiz-ur-Rahman Inspectors Mansoor Elahi, Shahid Bakhtair Bhatti, M Asghar Purewal, M Saleem Khan. Hassan Mahmood, Abdul Ghaffar, Javaid lqbal Butt seized  huge quantity of smuggled / non-duty paid goods and vehicles during July, 2021 to August, 2021 worth Rs1089.21 million.

The smuggled goods include cloth, tyres, cigarettes, dry fruits, medicines, cosmetics, etc. vehicles include, Toyota Land Cruiser (V8), Toyota Hilux Surf, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota Mark X, Toyota Vitz cars.

Cases worth Rs644.14 million were framed during the corresponding period of last year (2020-21). An increase of 69.01 percent excess as compared with the corresponding period last year.
