DGTO decision of imposition of fine on Hardware Merchants Association commended

LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Vice President Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry has welcomed the Directorate General of Trade Organizations (DGTO)  decision of imposition of a fine of Rs 50,000 on the Secretary General of the Hardware Merchants Association in Lahore for violating the rules and framework for trade associations.

Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry said that notices had recently been issued to more than 16 trade associations which had not been keeping accounts for many years.

“The association were directed to submit the audit report for the last three years and announce the election schedule of the hardware association so that the election process can be completed by September 30,” he said.

Chaudhry said that these fake organizations were neither holding annual meetings not working in accordance with the framework set for the trade unions.

“The decision will help in electing the real representatives of the community. This decision will help in advancing the vision of transparency of the present government,” he said.

He appreciated the services of the present Director General of the Trade Organization Malik Riaz Ahmed and said that fake organizations are opposing  the DGTO measures through negative propaganda but real business organizations will  always stand with the government machinery  and co-operate to promote transparency in the country.
