RCCI delegation calls on Asad Umar and discuss Industrial Zones along ring road

RAWALPINDI: A delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) led by President Mohammad Nasir Mirza called on Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar in Islamabad. The delegation included newly elected President Nadeem Rauf, Senior Vice President Osman Ashraf, Vice President Shahraiz Malik.

Talking to the delegation, Federal Minister Asad Umar said that the government was pursuing a comprehensive policy to control the COVID -19. In cities where the number of vaccinated people is higher and the rate of Corona cases are lower, the COVID restrictions will be gradually relaxed.

In Rawalpindi, more than 36 per cent of its eligible population are fully vaccinated and 54pc have received at least one jab, whereas in Islamabad it is 55% and 74% respectively. Complaints regarding uploading of data at vaccination centers in Rawalpindi will be addressed.

The minister said that he will talk to the Prime Minister regarding early construction of industrial zones along Rawalpindi Ring Road. Nasir Mirza, President Rawalpindi Chamber, briefed the Federal Minister on the ongoing activities of the Chamber.

He said that the ring road project was pending and work on it should be started immediately and industrial zones should be set up as per masterplan. Setting up industrial zones will accelerate trade activities and promote local industry, he added.

He appreciated the services of the NCOC in controlling the corona spread and also lauded its efforts for the availability of vaccines across Pakistan. He assured that the business community would extend full support to the government to make the vaccination campaign a success.
