QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs has thwarted two attempts to smuggle huge quantity of urea to Afghanistan.
Sources said that on the directives of Collector Chaudhary Javed and Additional Collector Moin Afzal, Assistant Collectors Shafiullah and Bazgul enhanced vigilance and tightened intelligence network which led to seizure of urea.
Enforcement Unit Darakhshan of Quetta Collectorate has detained two trucks loaded with 1,400 bags of Sona Urea (total 70 tons), moving illegally towards Quetta in violation of the SOP of Ministry of Industries.
As per preliminary investigation, the urea was intended to be smuggled in piecemeal to Afghanistan. The trucks were not found in the online database of Ministry of Industries.
After investigation, the detained urea will be handed over to the District Administration for further disposal as per the Ministry’s Instructions.
The staff of customs check post Manikhwa has foiled attempt of urea smuggling from D.I.Khan to Zhob/Quetta. The said truck was loaded 200 bags Sona urea.
It may be mentioned here, Collector Chaudry Javed has also given each check post under the supervision of an Assistant Collector.
