Director Intelligence Multan Asif Abbas said detention of 0.9 million liters petroleum products is unprecedented in custom history and huge dent to member customs’ campaign against illegal smuggling of fuel.

“It is a big question mark on Enforcement Collectorate Multan, how these big dumping places were allowed to operate right under its nose,” Asif Abbas mentioned.

It may be mentioned here that fuel smuggling has been a big issue in the country and at one point of time in recent years around Rs1.5 billion were paid as speed-money for the safe transport and distribution of smuggled fuel products.

However, Tariq Huda took stern action and broke this entire network of fuel smugglers. Malik Shabbo however continued this business. Malik Shabbo has setup a large storage dump in Multan like refineries to store illegal and smuggled goods.
