KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of diesel.
Sources said that information was passed through Director Saquif Saeed to Additional Director Umer Shafique that a huge quantity of smuggled / non duty paid foreign origin HSD Oil would be transported through Hino oil tankers.
Deputy Director Amjad Rajper constituted I&I team which intercepted a both Hino oil tankers. Upon cursory checking on the spot, both the vehicles were found to be loaded with foreign origin (Iranian) HSD Oil.
During search of the cabin, auction documents of MCC Gwadar and invoice of M/s Byco Petroleum were found and the same were found fake on verification.
In consequence, 60,000 liters and 50,000 Liters totaling 110,000 liters of foreign origin (Iranian) HSD Oil along with transporting vehicles, were taken into the custody. The market value of the seized HSD Oil along with transporting vehicle is approximately Rs.36.94 million.
Accordingly, FIRs have been lodged further investigation in the matter is still underway till the filing of this report.
