HYDERABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) during ongoing crackdown against organized smuggling of diesel and fuel products has seized 119,000 liters of smuggled Irani diesel along with five oil tankers.
Sources said that the market value of the seized diesel and tankers is Rs53.32 million. An official said smuggling of Irani diesel and cooking oil was continuing unabated via Gwadar. These commodities are delivered at Gwadar through launches and then these are distributed across the country especially Punjab.
The official said almost all the tankers seized with smuggled fuel present invoices issued by Byco Petroleum, but these invoices are declared fake when verified by the company.
On the instructions of Director Saleem Memon, Additional Director Jamshed Talpur, Assistant Collector Saleem Larik and ASO team made these seizures of the smuggled fuel.
FIRs have been lodged and investigations are still underway till the filing of this report.
