Pakistan to export various products to Spain at lucrative prices: Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi

MULTAN: Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi has said that Pakistan had immense potential to export various products to Spain at lucrative prices such as mangoes, agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, sports goods, leather products, surgical instruments and IT goods.

Spain and Pakistan have immense potential to improve bilateral trade in many areas and businessmen from both sides should forge strong linkages to create awareness and ramp up trade, stated Spanish ambassador Manuel Duran Gimenez-Rico while visiting the unique and the modern Roomi fabrics factory in Multan.

Exchanging views with renowned Pakistani Industrialist and philanthropist Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi, the ambassador lamented that the current trade volume between the two countries was low and limited to textile products only. “Lack of awareness of Pakistani products in Spain is a major trade barrier, which should be addressed to improve bilateral ties,” he said. “Pakistani fruit exporters should focus on complying with sanitary and phytosanitary standards to capture the EU market.”

Appreciating the quality, durability and finishing of Pakistani Products, the Spanish ambassador said these products are far better than other countries. He was highly impressed with the quality and standard of products being manufactured in Roomi fabrics and said that Iam feeling pride to visit this industrial unit. He said that products manufactured in South Punjab must be introduced in world market to attract the buyers.

Former Punjab caretaker Minister for Industries, Ex-President of Multan & Dera Ghazi Khan Chambers, Director of Board of Investment, Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that our products are liked in international market for the last seven decades. We have earned good repute by supplying good quality products at proper time up to the entire satisfaction of the buyers.

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that Pakistan had immense potential to export various products to Spain at lucrative prices such as mangoes, agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, sports goods, leather products, surgical instruments and IT goods. “Pakistan is an emerging market for business and investment,” he said, adding that Spanish companies should explore foreign investment and joint venture opportunities to produce value-added products.

The Spanish envoy asked his Economic and commercial attache Aitor Santiago Garin to explore the ways and means to produce maximum job opportunities in South Punjab. He said that attache must keep himself in close contact with the business groups and individuals to create employment opportunities in Multan and South Punjab. He said that Spain wants to play its role in elimination of unemployment in this area.
