Lahore I&I seizes smuggled betel nuts worth Rs10m near Motorway

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) team has seized 6 tons betel nuts d from M3 near Lahore.

Sources said that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) received credible information about smuggling of betel nuts through motorway. She immediately directed anti-smuggling squads to adopt a comprehensive strategy to foil smuggling attempt.

Customs I&I team enhanced the patrolling in the jurisdiction. The Customs I&I team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no: MNS 1855 near M3 Lahore. During detailed examination of the truck Customs I&I team recovered six tons of betel nuts. The Customs I&I team asked the driver of the truck to produce legal documents regarding transportation of betel nuts but he failed to provide any legal documents.

Customs I&I team arrested the driver of the vehicle and registered FIR. Further investigations are still under process till the filing of this report.
