MTBA seeks extension in tax returns filing date

MULTAN: Multan Tax Bar Association (MTBA) has demanded Federal Board of Revenue for the extension in due date of filing tax returns/statements tax year 2022.

General Secretary Multan Muhammad Imran Ghazi and President Shabbir Fakhruddin has written letter to Chairman Federal Board of Revenue in which requested that under S.R.O. 2052(I)/2022 dated following draft amendment was proposed. He highlighted that

“Provided that where return has been furnished prior to coming into force of Notification No. SRO.1891(I)/2022, dated the 13th day of October, 2022, the form specified in the said Notification shall be furnished separately by the 31st December, 2022.”

Said SRO has created the ambiguity among taxpayers that Federal Board of Revenue has generally extended the due date up to 31st December 2022 and therefore, a large number of taxpayers being relaxed and failed to contact with their tax consultants.

The Executive Body of Multan Tax Bar Association has received feedback from their members that there is a lot of work is still pending due to the reason that this time no media compaign has been carried out by the Board through electronic or print media about the last date of filing of income tax returns and additionally a general wrong assumption was spread from the Board S.R.O. 2052(I)/2022 dated 22.11.2022 and therefore, it is being requested to kindly extend the due date for further one month considering the who scenario positively in the sake of facilitation to tax fraternity who are doing their level best to play their cardinal and profound role for contributing into the Government Exchequer.
