NCC reviews projects worth $5.6 billion

ISLAMABAD: The National Coordination Committee on Foreign-Funded Projects (NCC-FFP) on Wednesday reviewed 12 ongoing projects of road and transport sector amounting to $5.6 billion.

The projects are funded by the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Japan and South Korea, according to a Ministry of Economic Affairs news release.

Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq chaired the meeting, attended by the Federal Minister for Planning and Minister of State for Finance, Secretary of Economic Affairs Division, provincial additional chief secretaries, representatives of the Prime Minister Office, Finance Division, Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority (NHA), and provincial P&D and line departments and boards of revenues.

The NCC-FFP, in the follow-up meeting, reviewed the compliance status of its decisions made in its previous meetings held on the transport and communication sector.

Minister Ayaz Sadiq lauded the efforts of line ministries and departments for the smooth implementation of foreign-funded projects in the sector, which, he said, were significant for improving regional connectivity and facilitating trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia.

The minister directed the line departments to strictly follow the timelines for expeditious implementation of the projects and in a timely and efficient manner so that people could benefit from them without any delay.
