MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 23,000 litres of smuggled High Speed Diesel (HSD) in two successful action. The net value of the seized oil tanker was almost Rs.4.5 million and High Speed Diesel is evaluated at approximately Rs2.2 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Multan Customs received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled High Speed Diesel will transported via Multan. Assistant Collector Habib-ur-Rehman formed special team on the direction of Collector Tahir Ali to intercept smuggled Petroleum Products. Inspector Arshad Nadeem, Inspector Akhtar Sukhera, Havaldar Sajid Haider, Jamil Ahmad,mSepoy Jawad Qadeer and others participated in the action against smuggled HSD after receiving said information.
Anti-smuggling squad started patrolling on the suspected routes of Dera Ghazi Khan and its adjourning areas to thwart any attempt of smuggling in the region. Anti-Smuggling Organization initiated strict monitoring of carriage to restrain smuggling from jurisdiction.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team intercepted two suspicious Hino oil tankers near Sakhi Sarwar of Dera Ghazi Khan and asked the said driver to produce import documents of said Petroleum Products and its oil tanker. Customs staff found in their examination that oil tanker was filled with 23,000 litres High Speed Diesel Oil. Driver of the oil tanker failed to provide any import documents to Customs anti-smuggling squad for verification and customs teams seized the oil tanker along with 23,000 liters of POL products.
Customs teams seized the said High Speed Diesel in their action after confirmation of smuggled one along with said oil tanker under section 157(2) of the Customs Act 1969 being used for smuggling of non-duty paid goods.
