MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of foreign origin skimmed milk powder worth Rs1.5 million.
Sources said that after receiving credible information, Assistant Collector Habib-ur-Rehman formed special team of Anti-Smuggling Organization under the supervision of Inspector Abdul Samad and Inspector Tahir Abbas.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization Multan squad started patrolling suspected routes and enhanced exit and entrance point to intercept them. Customs anti-smuggling squad intercepted a suspected truck loaded with foreign origin Skimmed Milk Powder near sher shah bypass during examination of goods. The truck was loaded with different brands of foreign origin skimmed milk.
Anti-smuggling Squad Multan team asked driver to provide legal documents of the foreign origin skimmed milk. Customs teams recovered almost 70 bags of skimmed milk powder during their examination. Customs teams asked driver to provide legal documents of said skimmed milk powder, but they failed to provide any documents. Customs Anti-Smuggling teams decided to seize skimmed milk powder after thorough examination.
The recovered Skimmed Milk were Iran origin and said were smuggled through Iran from secrets routes in the country and they were trying to transport skimmed milk in the local markets of South Punjab. The net worth of the seized skimmed milk was almost Rs.1.5 million. Anti-Smuggling squad shifted said Skimmed milk powder in the state ware house and vehicle under Customs act 1969.Further investigations were still under process.
