Multan Enforcement recovers smuggled cigrattes & goods near Vehari Chowk

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement has recovered huge quantity of foreign origin cigarettes and contraband items dumped in a private shop warehouse.

According to details, Collector Customs Enforcement Tahir Ali received credible information from his source that huge quantity of smuggled goods dumped in a private shop warehouse near Vehari Chowk. Collector Customs Enforcement Multan has directed Assistant Collector Habib-ur-Rehman to take strict action against them.

Assistant Collector formed special team of anti-smuggling squad Multan comprising of Inspector Tahir Abbas, Inspector Abdul Samad and others to capture them. Multan Customs Anti-smuggling squad enhanced monitoring of the suspected place.

Multan Customs anti-smuggling squad raided Tughlaq Town located near Vehari Chowk Multan and recovered almost 116 cartons of various foreign origin cigarette brands including Platinum,Pine, Business Royal, Elegance etc with Indian Origin Zafrani Ratna. Customs teams also recovered huge quantity of Velo Origin Europe during their raid. During examination anti-smuggling squad found huge 235 bags of contraband Gutka from the vehicle.

It was also revealed during raid that said dumping station was used to supply smuggled goods to other retail markets of South Punjab. Multan Customs Anti-smuggling squad found that said shop was concealing smuggled goods.

The value of the seized contraband goods  was about Rs.10 million including duty and taxes. Multan Customs brought the seized contraband items to State ware House of Multan Customs. Further investigations were still under way.
