Mis-declaration: Appraisement West suspends license of M/s Trishmir Imports

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Appraisement West, Karachi, has suspended the license of M/s Trishmir Import for mis-declaring imports of steel products.

According to the details, M/s. Trishmir Imports, was found to be involved in clearing secondary quality steel products under wrong HS codes to evade customs duties.

The customs authority said that it received an information that the agent was clearing Electrolytic Tin Plate (ETP), Cold Rolled Coils (CRC) of Non-Alloy Steel and Tin Free Sheet (TFS), which attract 20% customs duty and 6% additional customs duty, under the HS code of Silicon Electric Steel Sheet/Alloy Steel Sheet, which attract 0% customs duty and 9% additional customs duty.

The agent was also accused of tempering the samples of the imported goods.

The customs authority said that it has suspended the operation of the agent’s license under Rule 102 of Customs Rules, 2001 and that no documents should be processed or accepted by the agent. It said that it will take further action against the agent after completing the investigation.
