KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) team has raided a private school building near Yousuf Goth on 100-feet road and seized miscellaneous smuggled goods worth Rs250 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Faiz Ahmad received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled goods are dumped in a private school. He immediately coordinated with Director Engineer Habib and Additional Director Afzaal Wattoo. The police and rangers also arrived to assist the Customs staff.
Sources told that the school was being used as a dumping ground for smuggled goods. The operation was carried out on Tuesday evening.
The Customs I&I team was headed by Deputy Director Wasif Malik and supervised by Assistant Director Saud Hasan
The seized goods include dry fruits, iron wire, black pepper, black tea, coconut, cardamom, electronic items, milk powder, katch, etc. It is one of the largest seizures of miscellaneous goods in the history of Customs.
Superintendent Irshad Shah and IOs Babar Hussain, Jahanzeb Khan, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Ali Khan, Mehfooz Khoso, Hatam Bhayo, Khayam Hussain and some sepoys remained in the field.
The raid is part of the anti-smuggling and anti-money laundering campaign that is being monitored and backed by an associated agency of the Army. Customs and FIA are playing the leading role in this campaign, while police, FC, rangers and levies are assisting them.
