Collector Imran Bokhari’s Khuzdar Customs recovers 6 tons of betel nuts worth Rs28.8m

KHUZDAR: Under the dynamic leadership of Collector Imran Bokhari, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement thwarted two attempts to smuggle 6 tons of betel nuts. The combined value of the both seizures is around Rs28.8 million.

Sources told Customs Today that in pursuance of strict directions issued by Collector Khuzdar Imran Bokhari, on 7.10.2023 around 7pm, Customs Enforcement team intercepted a coach near Surab check post. During thorough search, Customs Enforcement team recovered one ton of betel nuts. The driver of the vehicle failed to provide any legal documents regarding transportation of betel nuts. Customs Enforcement team seized the betel nuts and impounded the vehicle. The market value of seized betel nuts and coach is Rs13.2 million rupees.

During another operation on same date around 3am Customs Enforcement team intercepted a ten wheeler truck near Khurkhera check post and recovered 5 tons of betel nuts. The market value of seized betel nuts is Rs 15.6 million.

Customs Enforcement team registered separate cases of smuggling and started investigations.

It is pertinent to mention here that Collector Imran Bokhari directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. Due to effective strategy adopted by Collector Imran Bokhari there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction.
