Multan I&I shows outstanding performance against smuggling: Asif Abbas Buzdar

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has accelerated crackdown against smuggled goods and vehicles on the strict orders by Chairman FBR Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana and directives of Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faiz Ahmad for a nationwide crackdown on smuggled items.

Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan authorities led by Director Asif Abbas Khan Buzdar have launched a massive anti-smuggling campaign within their respective areas with limited available resources on clear directions of FBR.

Massive anti-smuggling crackdown done by Additional Director Muhammad Mumtaz Ali Raza, Deputy Directors Syed Itrat Hussain, Muhammad Ali Asif and Ali Touqeer have also assisted Directorate during crackdown against smuggling goods and vehicles.

Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan is putting its utmost efforts into anti- smuggling operations in the suspected areas to bring optimum results despite the shortage of staff and logistics. Sources informed Customs today that under this campaign. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan have raided few suspected godowns on intelligence bases information and seized smuggled goods worth more than Rs.696 million in the first 18 days of operation.

Field Intelligence and Investigation of Customs staff has enhanced monitoring of the transporting goods and vehicles to curb smuggling in the jurisdiction. Multan Customs Intelligence seized almost 18 different non-customs paid vehicles of Rs.59.50 million during crackdown in the jurisdiction.

Sources said that Customs Intelligence recovered  huge quantity of betel nuts, High Speed Diesel, Cigarettes, tyres, shopping bags ,vehicles engines, skimmed milk and other miscellaneous goods of worth Rs.600 million during successful raids in Multan.
