KHUZDAR: Collectorate of Customs has seized smuggled goods worth Rs50 million during two raids. The total value of the catch was estimated at 24.6 million rupees.
Sources told that during the first raid, Khuzdar Customs intercepted a Daewoo bus of Aaleeshan company at check post Khurkhera and recovered huge quantity of smuggled edible items, cigarettes and gutka. The seized goods included 41,520 chocolates, 3,840 cakes, 9,240 hand creams, 5,220 milano chocolates, 1,340 packets of yeast, 1,032 biscuits, 43 cartons of fruity bars and 660 shampoos.
In the second raid, Khuzdar Customs, intercepted another Daewoo bus at Winder and recovered 88,000 sachets of Safina gutka and 60,000 cigarette sticks. The total value of the catch was estimated at 26.2 million rupees.
The ADC of Khuzdar Customs, Sajid Baloch, and the Assistant Collector, Rana Umair, supervised the operations. Customs also arrested the drivers and conductors of the buses. The smuggled goods were being transported from Karachi to Quetta and that they had registered FIRs against the culprits.
