DG Faiz Ahmad Chadhar’s leadership skyrockets customs I&I seizures to Rs3790m

LAHORE: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence, under the formidable leadership of Ch. Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Director General, has achieved monumental success in the fiscal year 2023-24 (July-December). The Lahore Range, with its steadfast dedication and strategic execution, reported an unprecedented seizure value of Rs3790 million, marking a significant 13.5 percent increase from the previous year’s Rs3336 million.

Director Muhammad Haris Ansari’s tactical operations and Additional Director Chaudhry Rizwan Bashir Kalair’s vigilant supervision have been pivotal in this feat, embodying DG Chadhar’s zero-tolerance approach towards smuggling and evasion.

Key Highlights:

– The Anti-smuggling arm successfully executed 234 seizure cases, showcasing the effective implementation of customs and tax laws.

– Major operations against illegal oil pumping and storage sites led to substantial seizures of foreign-origin fuel. Targeted raids in Lahore’s markets resulted in significant recoveries of contraband cigarettes and goods.

Revenue Realization:
– The fiscal year saw a remarkable 19% increase in revenue realization through auction/recovery of duty & taxes, amounting to Rs. 300 million, compared to the previous year’s Rs. 252 million.

Investigation & Prosecution Branch:

– Demonstrating effectiveness, 52 FIRs were lodged, and 32 offenders were arrested, disrupting organized smuggling networks.

Enforcement Wing’s Performance:

– The Enforcement Wing registered cases involving duty and taxes of Rs. 1034 million, showcasing its significant contribution despite challenges.

– Revenue realized by this branch was Rs. 56 million, a 200% increase from the previous year.
