Multan customs foils bid to smuggle heroin to Dubai, arrests couple

MULTAN: Customs officials arrested a couple at the Multan Airport for smuggling of heroin.

The accused Muhammad Aslam Raza and his wife Nasreen Akhtar are the residents of Sargodha. They were trying to smuggle heroin to Dubai.

Customs Inspector Zia Bhatti and Shafqat Awan detected the drug during scanning of their luggage. The total weight of the recovered heroin was 3 kg. The total worth of the drug in the international market is almost Rs 20 million.

The accused said they were not aware of the drug as the bag was gifted by a family friend during Umrah. A first information report was lodged against the accused and further investigations were under process.
