SHC orders to release more consignments after securing disputed amount

KARACHI: Customs Appellate Tribunal (CAT) bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) directed to release consignments imported by different importers after securing disputed amount of duty and taxes if the Custom Appellate Tribunal has ruled in favor of the appellants/importers.

During hearing of the case, Sardar Zafar Hussain Advocate, counsel for Pakistan Customs opposed any relief to the petitioner.

After hearing of all sides, the Customs Appellate bench of the Singh High Court giving interim relief to petitioners. The bench passing identical orders in a number of petitions held that in cases wherein Valuation Ruling is suspended and Order in Revision is also set aside by the Custom Appellate Tribunals, the petitioners in exceptional cases are entitle to interim relief.

The bench directed to deposit disputed amount of duty and taxes before the Nazir of Sindh High Court.
