Spearheaded by Collector Syed Imran Sajjad Bukhari and Additional Collector Shah Faisal Sahu, the Collectorate’s relentless enforcement efforts have resulted in the confiscation of a diverse array of contraband, valued at an astounding Rs390.16 million.

This represents an impressive 88% increase in value compared to the corresponding period in the preceding fiscal year, marking a significant milestone in the battle against smuggling.

The crackdown targeted various illicit commodities, including non-duty paid vehicles, petroleum products, mobile phones, food items, cigarettes, betel nuts, and tyres. Notably, the seizure operation witnessed a substantial uptick in the interception of non-duty paid vehicles, with 35 units seized, reflecting a remarkable 106% increase in cases and a 96% surge in value compared to the previous year.

The concerted efforts of the Collectorate have been further fortified by the strategic guidance of Dr. Fareed Iqbal Qureshi, Member Customs (Operations), and Madam Rubab Sikandar, Chief Collector (Enforcement-Punjab). Their focused directives, particularly emphasizing the interception of non-duty paid vehicles, have played a pivotal role in augmenting the success of the operation.

A detailed breakdown of the seized goods reveals the diverse nature of the enforcement activities, encompassing carrier vehicles, non-duty paid vehicles, betel nuts, food items, tyres, cigarettes, and miscellaneous items. In addition to the enforcement measures, administrative actions such as auctions and currency deposits have significantly contributed to revenue generation, with proceeds totaling approximately Rs. 710.96 million over the course of the year.

Furthermore, stringent directives have been issued to anti-smuggling units, including mobile squads and airport personnel, to intensify surveillance efforts and effectively curb the movement of illicit commodities, including essential goods, Iranian petroleum products, currency, gold, and mobile phones.

The unwavering commitment of the Multan Collectorate of Customs Enforcement to dismantle smuggling networks and uphold the integrity of legitimate commerce underscores its pivotal role in safeguarding national interests and fostering economic stability in the region.
