FY2024-25: Punjab likely to present budget of Rs53.9 trillion

LAHORE: As the new fiscal year is about to commence, the next budget of the country’s largest province – Punjab – is estimated at Rs53.9 trillion.

Sources said under the NFC award’s share, the centre would give Rs3700 billion to Punjab while the target for taxes was set at Rs1.27 trillion with the portion of salaries, pension and service delivery estimated at Rs597 billion, Rs447 billion and Rs841 billion.

As for the collection of taxes, the Punjab Revenue Authority has been given a target to collect Rs300 billion, with the tax collections for the Board of Revenue and Excise set at Rs105 billion and Rs55 billion.

Development budget

The development budget for the province has been proposed at Rs800 billion.

Sources said it is proposed to allocate Rs30 billion for the Ramazan package, Rs8 billion to Central Business District Development Authority, Rs600 billion for education and Rs406 billion for the health sector.

Meanwhile, for the Chief Minister Roshan Gharana, Rs9.8 billion for ‘Apni Chat Apna Ghar’, Rs7 billion have been suggested.

Moreover, Rs40 billion would be earmarked for the Green Pakistan Initiative while an endowment fund of Rs1 billion for journalists has also been recommended.
