Customs ASO raids Honda Company’s warehouse recovers smuggled betel nuts in SITE area

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement under the leadership of Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi seized huge quantity of smuggled betel nuts near the Honda Company’s warehouse in Site Industrial Area.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Basit Abbasi received credible information that huge quantity of betel nuts are dumped in a warehouse near Honda Company’s warehouse.

He immediately constituted anti-smuggling squad comprising comprising Preventive Officers Saqlain Chadhar and Syed Asif Raza who conducted a targeted raid and recovered7515 kilograms of betel nuts. These illicit goods, valued at approximately Rs1.8 million.

After raid, the seized betel nuts were promptly transferred to the ASO Enforcement warehouse for further investigation under the Customs Act.

 This operation is part of the ASO’s ongoing efforts to combat smuggling, with cases being made on a day-to-day basis. Warehouses and markets remain under scrutiny, and FIRs (First Information Reports) are being lodged.
