MULTAN: In a significant enforcement action, the Customs Intelligence Field Unit in Multan seized a considerable quantity of foreign-origin polyester cotton fabric.
Acting on directives from Director Muhammad Saeed Ahmad Watto, the operation was conducted near Bano Market on Khanewal Road based on specific intelligence.
Led by Senior Intelligence Officer Syed Mohsin Shah, the raid targeted three different locations within Bano Market. The operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 2,300 kilograms of polyester cotton gents’ fabric, with varying compositions of 40%, 60%, and 35% blends. The recovered fabric was identified as originating fruom China.
Customs officials demanded legal import documentation from the owners, Waqar Ahmad and Muhammad Amjad, who failed to provide the required documents. Consequently, the Customs Intelligence team verified the authenticity of the goods and framed a seizure case. The estimated market value of the confiscated fabric stands at Rs. 2.691 million.
Further actions are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the smuggling network. This successful operation underscores the Customs Intelligence’s commitment to combating smuggling and safeguarding the local market from illicit trade practices.
