LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Amjad Zubair Tiwana will continue in his role for only 15 more days before retiring, following approval from the Prime Minister for his premature retirement.
Tiwana’s leadership has been marred by internal dissent and allegations of misconduct, including transferring senior officers to pave the way for his own promotion to BS-22. The Sindh High Court’s decision to grant relief to affected officers made Tiwana’s position untenable, leading to his decision to retire.
As he steps down, top contenders for the Chairman FBR position include Shah Bano from the Inland Revenue Service, and Tariq Huda and Faiz Ahmed from the Customs Group.
