No cyber threat exists for ATM, online banking: 1LINK

ISLAMABAD: 1LINK (Pvt) Limited has clarified that there was no observed cyber threat to the automated teller machine (ATM) and online banking systems in Pakistan, responding to what it termed as “false rumours” circulating on social media and WhatsApp.

In a press release, the company, which is backed by a consortium of 11 banks, sought to reassure the public against alarming messages advising caution when using ATMs and online banking services.

1LINK urged individuals to disregard such hoaxes and recommended consulting their banks for accurate information.

It also highlighted that the State Bank of Pakistan is actively collaborating with financial institutions and 1LINK to uphold the security of the country’s financial infrastructure and digital payments, adhering to strict IT and security protocols.

The statement emphasised that no cyber threats have been detected, and the financial services sector remains vigilant in safeguarding against potential risks.
