ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran agreed to address barriers and boost bilateral trade by forming a sub-committee.

The decision was made during a meeting between the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam, and the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Rashid Mahmood Langrial, held at FBR headquarters.

During the meeting, they discussed customs issues, cross-border trade, and strategies for facilitating smoother trade between the two countries. Both sides committed to eliminating obstacles that hinder trade and exploring the full economic potential of their partnership.

To further address customs-related matters, they decided to establish a sub-committee for ongoing deliberations and resolutions between the two friendly countries.

Tehran and Islamabad had previously set an ambitious target of $5 billion in bilateral trade during the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s official three-day visit to Pakistan in April this year.
