TORKHAM: Collectorate of Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle arms and ammunition from Afghanistan into Pakistan via the Torkham border.
Sources said that Chief Collector Customs Jamil Nasir received credible information regarding smuggling arms and ammunition.
The anti-smuggling squad intercepted a suspicious vehicle.
During detailed examination of the vehicle, they discovered a hidden compartment in the vehicle, which upon cutting open, revealed a huge quantity of arms and ammunition.
The vehicle’s driver had disappeared earlier in the morning, according to nearby drivers and NLC staff. The contraband and the vehicle were seized.
A complaint has been submitted for the registration of an FIR in the I&P Branch of the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement at Customs House, Peshawar.
