All rating agencies say Pakistan’s economy on right track: Aurangzeb

WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said all rating agencies are of the view that the economy of Pakistan is on the right track.

Speaking at a press conference at Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, the finance minister said business community in the US wants to invest in Pakistan, adding Pakistan has assured all institutions of its cooperation.

Muhammad Aurangzeb has said with decrease in inflation and policy rate, economy is improving, adding stricter measures need to be taken for further improvement.

On non-filers, the minister said legislation was required on the issue of non-filers, adding non-filers would not be able to purchase vehicles and properties.

He said in the first phase, three Discos would be privatized. On IMF programme, the minister expressed hope that Pakistan would not go for another IMF programme, adding talks with the funding agencies remained positive.

The finance minister said World Bank will give grants to Pakistan instead of loans.
