KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Collector Moeen-ud-Din Ahmad Wani impounded four non-customs paid vehicles and from Bahria Town worth Rs50 million..
Sources said that Collector Moeen-ud-Din received credible information about presence of non-customs paid vehicles in Bahria Town.
He immediately constituted an anti-smuggling squad who conducted an operation in Bahria Town Karachi. The raid resulted in the recovery of four old and used NCP vehicles, including a Crown, Honda Civic, Axio, and Honda Accord, with a total estimated value of Rs. 50 million.
Earlier, Customs Enforcement anti-smuggling squad recovered huge quantity of smuggled goods at the Mauripur Truck Stand on Hawksbay Road. Acting on this intelligence, the staff of Customs Enforcement Karachi raided the godown on the intervening night of December 8 and 9, 2024, and uncovered a significant amount of smuggled goods.
The operation led to the discovery of 880 bags of whey powder and skimmed milk, weighing a total of 22 tons, cleverly concealed behind crates of fresh apples in a refrigerated container. The truck driver had presented a Goods Declaration (GD) claiming the cargo was solely fresh apples. The market value of the seized goods, including the trailer and container, is estimated to be around Rs. 50 million.
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with this operation, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged.
