MULTAN, DECEMBER 18: In a decisive move to enforce tax regulations, the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Multan has sealed a business for failing to integrate its Point of Sale (POS) system in compliance with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) guidelines. This action highlights the growing commitment of the tax authorities to ensure transparency and accountability within the taxation system.
Led by Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue, Umair Shafqat Gujjar, the operation was carried out with precision by a dedicated team of officers, including Inspector IR Imran Anjum and UDC Muhammad Waseem. Their efforts were executed under the guidance of Additional Commissioner IR Headquarters, Bilal Ahmad, ensuring a swift and impactful response.
The raid targeted M/s 786 Family Mart & Bakers, located on Sir Syed Road Block No. 8, Khanewal. The business, registered under STRN 3277876127455, was found in violation of the FBR’s POS integration standards. Due to the non-compliance, the business was sealed, and a penalty was imposed on the owner.
This enforcement action serves as a reminder to all businesses about the importance of adhering to tax regulations, particularly in light of the FBR’s push for improved compliance. RTO Multan’s proactive approach is part of a broader initiative aimed at improving tax collection efficiency and streamlining business operations across the region.
As per the FBR’s guidelines, a Re. 1 levy is imposed on every invoice generated through a POS integrated with the FBR’s computerized system, which allows for real-time reporting of sales. This system is integral to monitoring and ensuring the accuracy of business transactions. Since its rollout, RTO Multan has closely monitored POS integration to ensure that businesses meet the required standards.
In a significant achievement, the FBR has successfully integrated 9,130 large retailers into the POS system as of December 18, 2024. This includes prominent outlets, departmental stores, and restaurants, all of which are now part of the comprehensive tax documentation system. RTO Multan’s latest move reinforces its commitment to creating a transparent business environment, safeguarding revenue generation, and ensuring strict compliance with tax laws.
