MULTAN Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling Organization raided the Grain Market and impounded 25 trucks carrying smuggled betel nuts and cigarettes worth Rs.300 million.
The operation was launched following intelligence reports about the illegal storage of contraband in warehouses. Customs officials disclosed that the seized goods were intended for local market distribution, bypassing official import channels to evade taxes and duties.
The confiscated goods were promptly moved to government storage facilities, and further investigations are underway to identify those behind the smuggling ring. Officials stated that strict legal action will be taken against the individuals and groups involved in these illegal activities.
This crackdown is part of an intensified effort to curb smuggling in the region. Authorities highlighted that smuggling not only undermines lawful trade but also causes significant losses to the national exchequer.
The Multan Customs Enforcement team urged the public to cooperate with authorities by reporting suspicious activities to help dismantle smuggling networks and support efforts to protect the economy.
