LAHORE: Customs officials deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) conducted an operation, seizing 220 kg of pork and 22 bottles of liquor from passengers arriving from Dubai on flight ER-724, said Deputy Collector (DC) Customs Mudassir Rafiq.
According to Deputy Collector Customs, the contraband items were found in the luggage of Chinese nationals.
The pork was confiscated for disposal, while the liquor was also seized as per regulations.
The operation was carried out on the directives of Collector Customs Tayyaba Kiyani, under the supervision of DC Customs Mudassir Rafiq and Superintendent Shahid Ali, stated the Customs spokesperson.
Customs authorities have intensified efforts to curb smuggling of prohibited items at all airports in Punjab following Collector Customs Tayyaba Kiyani’s instructions, the spokesperson added.
