LAHORE: In the on-going campaign against smuggling of non-duty paid cigarettes, Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) seized smuggled cigarettes worth Rs35 during different smuggling operations in different districts of the province.
These operations were conducted after receiving credible intelligence information. As many as 544 cartons of non-duty paid goods were impounded during these operations.
During detailed checking, I&I team recovered 54,40,000 cigarettes stock from these cartons.
It is necessary to mention here that Federal Board of Revenue directed all tobacco manufacturing companies to install Track and Trace System.
Federal Board of Revenue further directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling of non-duty paid cigaretees. FBR said that anyone who found involved in smuggling of non-duty paid cigarettes should be dealt as per law.
