ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over decline in the annual Sensitive Price Index rate to minus three point five-two percent.
In a statement, he said this rate stood at twenty six point nine four percent during the same period last year. Highlighting the country’s steadily strengthening economic indicators, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to translating these positive trends into tangible benefits for the people.
The Federal Bureau of Statistics has released its latest weekly inflation figures, showing a decrease in the prices of several essential items, while others have seen an increase. Last week, prices of eighteen items dropped, while twenty-two items remained stable. On an annual basis, inflation reached minus 3.52 percent.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, eighteen essential items became cheaper, while eleven became more expensive. The prices of 22 items remained unchanged. The report detailed that live broiler chicken saw a decrease of 11.75 percent, while wheat flour became cheaper by 5.68 percent. The price of garlic dropped by 4.66 per cent, bananas saw a decrease of 3.51 percent, onions fell by 1.93 percent, and rice became cheaper by 1.58 percent. Mustard oil, tomatoes, electricity, and LPG also became cheaper.
On the other hand, potatoes became 6.94 percent more expensive, and eggs rose by 0.66 percent last week. Jaggery, curd, lentils, chickpeas, and cigarettes also saw an increase in prices.
