MULTAN: In a major success against counterfeit trade, Multan Customs Enforcement, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, conducted a joint operation at Khawaja Bashir Cotton Factory located on Multan Road, Jalalpur Pirwala.

During the operation, officials seized two trucks fully loaded with counterfeit cigarettes and confiscated machinery used for illegal production.

The raiding teams arrested 34 workers who were engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit cigarettes. Sources revealed that the factory management had recruited labor from other cities instead of hiring local workers, likely to avoid detection.

It was further disclosed that the same factory had been raided approximately a year and a half ago by Customs authorities, during which a large quantity of counterfeit cigarettes was also seized.

Following the successful operation, Multan Customs Enforcement has initiated detailed investigations under anti-smuggling laws and intellectual property regulations. Further legal proceedings are underway to dismantle the entire network involved in the production and supply of counterfeit cigarettes.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing strict action against illegal manufacturing units and smuggling operations in the region.
