KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the immediate release of goods imported by L’Oréal Pakistan. This decision came after the company offered to pay all undisputed duties and taxes to Pakistan Customs and to secure the disputed amount with the court.

Lawyer Qazi Umair Ali, who represented L’Oréal Pakistan, presented the proposal to the court. Pakistan Customs was represented by Sardar Zafar Hussain.

The court observed that the imported goods were at risk of damage and extra storage charges at the port. Considering this, the bench accepted the proposal and instructed that once the undisputed taxes are paid and the disputed amount is secured, the court’s Nazir (officer) will issue a clearance certificate.

Following this, the court ordered that the goods should be released without delay after the government’s revenue is fully secured.
