FTO hails Punjab CM’s decision regarding budget

LAHORE: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Coordinator Saif-ur-Rehman Friday hailed the decision of Punjab Chief Minister to present a pro-poor and development-oriented budget.

Talking to traders delegation, led by Mian Azhar Shaukat here, he also welcomed the decision to broaden tax net  instead of imposing new taxes.

The coordinator said, this approach would promote economic stability, ease the burden on existing taxpayers, and support business growth across the province.

He added that expanding the tax base is a sustainable strategy to enhance revenues  without overburdening compliant businesses. He appreciated the provincial government’s vision in addressing fiscal challenges while encouraging documentation and transparency within the economy.

He urged the government to ensure effective implementation of this policy by investing in digital infrastructure and tax awareness campaigns.

He expressed confidence that such progressive steps would help create a more equitable tax system and contribute to the long-term development of Punjab’s economy.
