Pak-Afghan bilateral trade declines 12pc in July

PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s bilateral trade with Afghanistan has dropped by 12 percent in July 2025 despite a sharp increase in fruit imports. ‎

According to the ‎Ministry of Commerce, imports of grapes from Afghanistan jumped by 562 percent, apricots by 116 percent, and tomatoes by 212 ‎percent last month. However, Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan dropped by 28 percent compared to June 2025 and 2 percent year-‎on-year.

Pak-Afghan exports stood at $102 million in July 2025, down from $142 million in June 2025 and $104 million in July 2024.

Meanwhile, ‎imports rose from $16 million in June 2025 to $38 million in July 2025, and the same level recorded in July 2024.‎ Officials said that overall trade volume between the two countries reached $138 million in July 2025, compared to $158 million in ‎June 2025. In July 2024, the bilateral trade stood at $141 million.‎
